VINYL WINE &//// HONEY BUN

In early February I received one of the most thoughtful and kismet-filled DM’s on Instagram from a woman named Darby. A few exchanges led us to meet on a cold evening at Ten Belles in LES just after NY lifted indoor dining restriction. We sat across from one another at a large wooden table cluttered with giant bottles of natural wine, snacked on empanadas (me), Oysters (Darby), and chatted about love, Paris, wine, and most notably being women demanding change. Darby is a beautiful writer, from both her initial slide in the DM’s to our risky covid-19 meet-up, I knew we had one of those connections and understandings that can only be chalked up to the universe just doing her thing. A woman of the world, her energy is currently exuded at upper eastside wine shop VINYL WINE where she has launched a series + 3-pack wine collection titled “Vinyl & /////” that aims to “unify and amplify the faces & places and voices & choices of the wine and music communities in New York City and beyond.” Her questions and intentions are pure, and I am so honored to not only be her first feature, to have inspired a selection of wines but also to have found a new friend.
